Dear Parents and Carers
We are having a busy and productive week at St Matthew’s School.
On Tuesday our Community Council met for their twice termly meeting. The Council heard a presentation from our new Before and After School Care Provider who updated members on the progress of the new service.
Staff representatives presented a list of priorities for spending so that the money raised from the Community Council Levy and initiatives such as the Colour Run could be spent on improving resources for your children. Members were also informed of the excellent work of Liz Susic in the used Clothing Pool. Liz has been frantically busy on Friday afternoons and could really do with a hand. Can you help?
Our Chairperson, James Montero gave a presentation on the success of the recent Colour Run which has raised in excess of $10,000.
Friday morning will see the presentation of Class Awards and Cross Country ribbons for those children who have achieved recent success. This will be held in our Junior Playground following our Morning Assembly.
Immediately following the Assembly a group of parents will act as shopkeepers as children have the opportunity to select a Mother’s Day gift at our annual stall. Thank you to Kristy Marks and her band of helpers who have facilitated this initiative for several years.
Finally after Recess our children will be involved in an Exhibition of their most recent learnings during their Inquiry Unit. Our students will have an opportunity to be presenters and audience members in this (COVID compliant) activity.
It’s a normal busy week at St Matthew’s. God willing we can return to even more normal practices such as our Mother’s Day Breakfast and Exhibitions with parents as audience members in the not too distant future.
