Dear Parents and Carers
At a time when very few “normal” events are occurring in school life, it is lovely to report that the Rostrum Public Speaking competition was able offer children an opportunity to participate albeit under “Virtual” conditions.
Our school’s representative, Scarlett from Year 6 presented her speech to a virtual audience, having reached the semi-final stage of this year’s competition. I have included a short report from her below. Congratulations to Scarlett on reaching this stage and presenting under such unusual circumstances.
I have loved being a part of the Rostrum speaking competition. It has been a wonderful experience being able to perform my speech in front of some amazing judges. I got so much support from my school and friends. Even though I didn't make it through to the grand finals, I still feel like a winner. Thank you to Mr Hornby for supporting me by coming to watch every round I entered, and thank you to Miss Buckler for making this all happen. And how could we forget; thank you to Doug the Rostrum MC for telling jokes that only I thought were funny!
COVID Plans and Information
I realise that parents must feel that we are currently in somewhat of a holding pattern regarding future plans for schools to return to face to face teaching. As you can appreciate our information is drawn from ACT Health, in consultation with Catholic Education. Please be assured that as soon as we receive accurate information we will pass this onto you via our normal communication channels. I am aware that roadmaps covering every possible scenario are being developed. The priority, of course remains the safety of all stakeholders.
In the meantime please keep in touch with the school if you are unsure of what is required or you feel you might need help with an aspect of your child’s wellbeing.
A reminder that our School Counsellor, Rachel Corcoran can be contacted via email on Rachel.Corcoran@catholiccare.cg.org.au to provide assistance.
