Dear Parents and Carers
Kindergarten Interviews
This week I commenced the interview process for new families who are seeking a place in our 2023 Kindergarten cohort. The interviews for children who have siblings already attending our school will take place at the end of this term or early Term 3.
I have to say that this is one of the most enjoyable tasks that I routinely do each year. I never cease to be reminded that parents place enormous trust in schools as they hand their child, at such a tender age, into our care. Please be assured that it is a responsibility that we do not take lightly.
The common hope amongst all parents is that they would like to begin contributing towards their child’s school. Parents have rightly felt very isolated during the pandemic years, and they are keen to renew acquaintances and contribute.
Why not begin this process by committing to our Anniversary Dinner on Friday 2nd September at Pialligo Estate (see save the date below).
Games Club
Tomorrow we are reintroducing Games Club for children in Kindergarten, Years One and Two. Games Club will be held every Friday in the library during lunchtime. Any child who would like to attend may bring a game to school which is suitable to be shared with a friend. The purpose of Games Club is to support those children, in a more structured setting, who may struggle to make social connections.
Children Not Returning in 2023
I know it is hard to believe but we are already commencing the planning process for 2023!
Whilst I understand that many parents may be awaiting confirmation of a placement at a new school, could I ask that you let our Front Office know as soon as you receive such an offer. As you can appreciate, several of our current classes are at their limit regarding potential enrolments, and it is important to let prospective parents know if there is a vacancy.
Parents of Year Six children need not reply.
Pupil Free Days
Just a reminder that the final two days of this term (June 30th July 1st) are the designated Pupil Free days for St Matthew’s as authorised by the Catholic Education Office. The first day of next term (July 18th) is earmarked to embed the Catalyst Professional Learning initiative, is the final Pupil Free day for this year.
SAVE THE DATE
Our Anniversary Dinner will be held on Friday September 2nd at Pialligo Estate. Tickets, at reduced prices, will be on sale early next term.
May God bless you and your families.
