Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers

It was lovely to be able to pass on some good news to our Year Six parents last week concerning their child’s Farewell Dinner. After many months of speculation, the COVID restrictions have been relaxed enough to enable a dinner to take place in the

final week of this term. As you can imagine preparations are now taking place at speed in an effort to give these children a memorable night. This year the function will be held at the Hellenic Club at Woden, a venue large enough to cater for our children and their families.

Thankyou in anticipation to a group of our Year Five parents who are now organising the night. I think it’s only fitting that such a lovely group of children should be properly farewelled having missed many of the milestones of their final year in Primary school.

Drop off Zones and Collection

The Drive Through procedures are working very smoothly and are generally finished by 3.15. You might like to consider asking your child/ren to assemble at that collection point. I am concerned to hear that some children are waiting unattended on Chewings Street after the teacher completes the Crossing Duty. If parents opt for the Drive Through pick up, your child will be supervised until they are collected.

A reminder to those parents who either drop off or collect their child using the dedicated zone at the front of the school, please do not to leave your car to assist your child to disembark or embark.

If your child requires assistance either in the morning or in the afternoon, please park your car in the bays and walk them to or from the school building.

Class Groupings and Reports

Teachers are finalising their class groupings and End of Year Reports at the moment. The composition of classes is an exacting process where teachers consider the

academic, social, gender balance and behavioural needs of each year group. To call the process similar to constructing a complex jigsaw puzzle is not overstating the task. I fully anticipate that there will be a mix of reactions when the classes are released. Please understand that to completely meet all needs is simply not possible.

Please expect this information to arrive home via your child on 10th December.

May God bless you and yor families
