Year 6 Farewell

Next Tuesday evening our Year Six parents and staff members will gather to farewell  the current Year Six cohort. It is fitting that we are able to celebrate this particular year group given that many of the normal milestones which mark the final year in Primary school were bypassed because of COVID restrictions.The function will be held at the Hellenic Club in Woden in a room which meets the social distancing restrictions. The evening will comprise individual presentations as well as recognising the winners of two annual awards and farewelling our departing families.

I would particularly like to thank Mrs Jo Harding and Mrs Sarah Kelly who have led a committee of Year Five parents in the organisation of the evening. Thank you also to our two Year Six teachers, Mr Sam Hornby and Ms Ana Zaja who have worked hard to ensure the children have a wonderful evening.

Light of Leadership Ceremony

This annual event will be held next Wednesday 16 December in our school hall. Unfortunately this ceremony is subject to COVID social distancing restrictions which means that it will be a child only event. Our plan is to invite the siblings of the Years Five and Six children to the ceremony in order to give the older children a sense of support and recognition from their family.

Kindergarten Excursion

Next Monday our Kindergarten classes will be heading off on an excursion to the Zoo. Once again it’s wonderful to be able to recommence activities such as these. Hopefully we can publish some photographs in next week’s newsletter.

Reports and Class Lists

This afternoon all children from Kindergarten to Year Five spent an hour with their 2021 teacher. The class groups were joined by children commencing at our school in 2021.

The afternoon concluded with children receiving their Semester Two Report in a sealed envelope including information about their 2021 class 

teacher and classmates. The older siblings of next year’s Kindergarten children will be given their brother or sister’s class list. New families, whose child is enrolled in next year’s Kindergarten, will receive their class information via the post.

Similarly, the parents of those children who are not residing at the family home will also receive a copy of the report and class list via the post.
