Dear Parents and Carers

Last week our Year Two teacher, Miss Sophie Murdock travelled overseas to attend World Youth Day which this year is to be held in Portugal. Since leaving Australia Sophie has visited Lisbon, Avila (home of St Therese) and Fatima.

This week she will be participating in a Pilgrimage Walk before attending World Youth Day Week. The highlight of the week will be a sleepout with the other pilgrims before attending Mass with literally millions of other pilgrims, celebrated by Pope Francis. This number includes 1500 people with disabilities.

Her return to Australia will be punctuated by attending a seven-day Retreat in Dubai.

You may remember this event was held in Sydney in 2008. I had the good fortune to attend and recall it being a fabulous event for our country and indeed everyone who participated.

Unsurprisingly, Sophie was selected from many hopeful teachers in our Archdiocese. I know this will also be a wonderful faith-filled opportunity for her and we look forward to hearing about her experiences when she returns to school.
