Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers

Picture4.jpgAt the time of writing this newsletter the forecast for this evening is still quite uncertain. We will make a decision on Thursday morning as to whether the Carols can proceed. This will be conveyed via Compass. Our Music Teacher, Debbie Deighton has been preparing the children for this event for several months and we are confident, weather permitting that it will be a great evening.

Thank you to our Community Council, whose members have offered to run a sausage sizzle on the evening. Please bring along a rug or some outdoor chairs to make yourself comfortable.

I look forward to catching up with you during the night.

Mrs Sarah Lowe
Our incoming principal, Sarah Lowe visited St Matthew’s yesterday as part of the handover process. Sarah was able to inspect the new building and visit classes during the day. Sarah has also been fully briefed about the school’s 2024 Annual Improvement Plan and other operational areas of the school.

She remarked that she is very excited to be joining a wonderful school with such a strong staff and delightful children.

Junior Playground
The company installing the new Junior Playground has confirmed that the demolition program to remove the old softfall and playground equipment will commence once the school holidays begin. Bearing in mind the building industry largely closes over the holiday break, we anticipate the construction will cause some disruption to this area when school resumes.

The result will be an exciting new playground for our younger children, open for use early in the new year.

Community Council
Our Community Council held its final gathering, a celebration dinner on Tuesday evening. I would like to thank, on your behalf the Council for their support this year.

I would especially like to thank Liesl Taylor and Jessica Fraser whose will be stepping down at the end of this year as their children leave the school.

Thankyou also to the three parents who have nominated to join the Council next year. Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated.

May God bless you and your families this week.
